2007: Movies..Books..and Games..Oh My!!

For teens, 2007 was full of new movies, games and books. The much anticipated Halo 3 was released, as was J.K. Rowling's final installment of Harry Potter. Hollywood was turning out new movie titles for teens faster than you could watch them! Some of the top blockbuster hits for 2007 were: Bridge to Terabithia, Transformers, Into the Wild, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and who could forget Stardust? 2007 was chock-full of imagination and fun. What was your favorite new book release of 2007? Was it "Princess Diaries Seventh Heaven" by Meg Cabot? or maybe "New Moon" by Stephenie Meyer? Tell us what you think of what you've seen and read so far..and what you're looking forward to most as we near the end of 2007.

Teachers are usually just as nervous as you are, so don't be afraid to introduce yourself and make a positive impression. Enjoy your first day and make good memories!

Start the new year right...

-Get enough sleep.
-Eat a healthy breakfast.
-Try your best.
-Develop good work habits, like writing down your assignments and turning in your homework on time.

Pottermania!!

Everyone knows about the famed fiction series "Harry Potter". Thousands lined the streets in front of book stores, at midnight, to catch a glimpse of J.K. Rowling's final installment. Many readers wrote local newspapers and posted blogs about what they thought Harry Potter's final fictional fate would be. Some speculated that Harry Potter might kill Lord Voldemort, or sacrifice himself to end the cycle of evil. What was your guess? Don't spill the beans if you know for sure what happens to Harry. But please do tell us what you thought would be his magical journey's end.

We'll have glitter, markers, crayons and even scissors for you to design your own altered book. If you enjoy creative artwork and have a love for books, this is the activity for you! An altered book is a book that becomes the canvas for your art
instead of a candidate for landfill. You need more imagination than money to alter a book!

*July 17, 2:30 pm, at the Montvale Library
