Library Gaming and Movies!


Have you been to Bedford Central Library lately? If not you need to come to check out all the cool things we have going on for teens. Every Thursday we present movies, just for teens! December and January are going to be two very cool months at the library. Here's what we're showing: December 4th Incredible Hulk (PG-13);
December 11th Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D (PG);
December 18th National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (PG-13);
January 8th Get Smart (PG-13);
January 15th Star Wars: Clone Wars (PG-13);
January 22nd Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (PG-13),
and finally on January 29th The Dark Knight (PG-13).
But that's not all! Every Friday from 3:30-5:30 we have video game Fridays! Come in and play Dance Dance Revolution, Tourist Trophy or Guitar Hero III on the big screen! All you have to do is be a teen and come to the library. Don't miss out on all our fun activities just for teens!

Teen Read Week 2008


Teen Read Week 2008 is coming! This year's theme is Books with Bite, and we will having tons of biting activities for you to enjoy! Sink your teeth into these activities during the week of October 27-November 1

Come play DDR and join us for our premier of Guitar Hero III.

It's a nite of bites!
Create spooky or goofy food art.

Wednesday, October 29 4:30-5:30PM
Yack, Snack & React: Paranormal Book Discussion
Share your biting wit as we snack and talk about paranormal books, including Twilight by Stephanie Meyer.

Thursday, October 30 3:30-5:30PM
Give us a bite of your night and watch a movie featuring vampires!

Friday, October 31 3:30-5:30PM
Drop in and make a bite-sized craft using recycled materials.

Saturday, November 1 3:00-5:30 PM
It's Alive! & 3D!!
Come watch Journey to the Center of the Earth (PG) in 3D!

Banned Books Week September 29-October 3

In celebration of National Banned Books Week we will be showcasing books that have been banned by schools, libraries and churches over the years. You’ll find many great classics including Catcher in the Rye, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, A Wrinkle in Time and many more on display with the reason’s why they have been banned. Just look for the brown paper “bands” with the title Banned Book.
We will also be showing films based on banned books. Go to our Banned Books website at http://ys.bplsonline.org/teens/BBW/index/index.html to see reviews of the films and why the featured books have been banned. Celebrate the Freedom to Read during Banned Books Week at Bedford Central Library!

Play With Your Food Creations

We had some wonderful food creations at our Play With Your Food Summer Reading Program! Participants took everyday food items, such as pretzels and candies, and made food insects. Here are a few of the food art masterpecies our participants created....

Summer Reading Program is over, but the fun doesn't stop here! Our fall programs will begin the week of September 15th. May Movies!!

It's time to say goodbye to thunderstorms and hello to our May movie line-up! Come watch a movie with us every Thursday from 3:30-5:30pm to view movies picked just for teens!! In May we will be showing a variety of films including: August Rush (PG) on May 8th, Stardust (PG-13) on May 15th, Enchanted (PG) on May 22 and finally BEE movie (PG) on May 29th. We won't be showing any movie on May 1st due to library renovations. Come in and see our new look and our new movie line-up!

April showers bring may flowers and a new movie line-up! Attention all Patch Questers!!


If you haven't started your Patch Quest adventure, get to your local Bedford Public Library location fast! Patch Quest will be ending on May 19th. For every 10 books you read in a category, you will receive a patch. We have 11 different categories and a log for you to keep track of all your books. To all of our veteran Patch Questers, get your logs in fast so you can reap the rewards of all your hard work! It's not too late to complete your Patch Quest adventure!

March Movie Madness!!!


Join us for Theater Thursdays at the Bedford Central Library in Bedford City every Thursday afternoon from 3:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. when we will be showing movies of interest to teens. Join us in March for a variety of films! Beginning on March 6, we will be showing Martian Child (PG). On March 13 there will be a showing of the film Gracie (PG-13) followed by Becoming Jane (PG) on March 20. Finally we will be showing Harriet the Spy (PG) on March 27th.
Come watch a movie with us! This program is open to the public and free of charge. Movies are subject to change.

It's time again for a new movie line-up, and who better to pick the movies than you! Leave us a comment with your favorite title or titles and we'll do our best to show them during Theater Thursdays. Some of the films we already have in mind are: Stardust, Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium, Nancy Drew and August Rush. Visit any library in the Bedford Public Library System from January 14th-18th to make a valentine for a soldier or sailor currently deployed overseas. Materials are provided, all you have to do is design and sign a card! Come in and make a valentine for a local serviceman!
