Library Gaming and Movies!


Have you been to Bedford Central Library lately? If not you need to come to check out all the cool things we have going on for teens. Every Thursday we present movies, just for teens! December and January are going to be two very cool months at the library. Here's what we're showing: December 4th Incredible Hulk (PG-13);
December 11th Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D (PG);
December 18th National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (PG-13);
January 8th Get Smart (PG-13);
January 15th Star Wars: Clone Wars (PG-13);
January 22nd Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (PG-13),
and finally on January 29th The Dark Knight (PG-13).
But that's not all! Every Friday from 3:30-5:30 we have video game Fridays! Come in and play Dance Dance Revolution, Tourist Trophy or Guitar Hero III on the big screen! All you have to do is be a teen and come to the library. Don't miss out on all our fun activities just for teens!

Teen Read Week 2008


Teen Read Week 2008 is coming! This year's theme is Books with Bite, and we will having tons of biting activities for you to enjoy! Sink your teeth into these activities during the week of October 27-November 1

Share your biting wit as we snack and talk about paranormal books, including Twilight by Stephanie Meyer.

Give us a bite of your night and watch a movie featuring vampires!

Drop in and make a bite-sized craft using recycled materials.

Banned Books Week September 29-October 3

In celebration of National Banned Books Week we will be showcasing books that have been banned by schools, libraries and churches over the years. You’ll find many great classics including Catcher in the Rye, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, A Wrinkle in Time and many more on display with the reason’s why they have been banned. Just look for the brown paper “bands” with the title Banned Book.
We will also be showing films based on banned books. Go to our Banned Books website at http://ys.bplsonline.org/teens/BBW/index/index.html to see reviews of the films and why the featured books have been banned. Celebrate the Freedom to Read during Banned Books Week at Bedford Central Library!

Play With Your Food Creations

We had some wonderful food creations at our Play With Your Food Summer Reading Program! Participants took everyday food items, such as pretzels and candies, and made food insects. Here are a few of the food art masterpecies our participants created....

Summer Reading Program is over, but the fun doesn't stop here! Our fall programs will begin the week of September 15th. Shutterbug Photography Contest

Our Shutterbug Photography contest was a great success! We had many fascinating entries. Be sure to vote on your favorites by visiting your local Bedford Public Library System library. All you have to do is choose a favorite and tell us your choice! The final day to vote will be Saturday, August 2nd and the winner will be announced on Monday, August 4th.
