Teens, Get Active! at Your Library during Teen Read Week! In honor of Teen Read Week, the BPLS Libraries are hosting exciting programs just for teens! Get ready to move and grove…and come play video games at the library! We’ll set up a PS2 that’s hooked up to the big screen projector, so you can come and play against your friends! Dance, Dance Revolution (E) is the game that will be available. Drop in and make your own jewelry from recycled items! You can make earrings, bracelets, necklaces, or even a belt while being earth friendly! Come watch the movie Ghostbusters (PG) and participate in a Scavenger Hunt for prizes! Bedford Central’s Teen programs will be held the week of October 29 to November 2. Do you love Harry Potter or want to know more about the series? Then on Friday, November 2, at 3:30 p.m., come to a book discussion group for teens all about Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Play Potter trivia and view Harry Potter websites with other Potter fans. Bring your Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows book and be ready to discuss what you thought of it! --Crafts with recycled materials will be on Monday, October 29. Accessories can be made from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. –Our Live Clue Game will be on Tuesday, October 30. Join other teens in discovering clues beginning at 3:30 p.m. --Are you hungry for competition? Then come play Dance Dance Revolution on Wednesday, October 31, from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. --Want to get get spooked and laugh, all at the same time? Come to the library on Thursday, November 1, at 3:30 p.m. to see Ghostbusters on the big screen!. Harry Potter fans, join us for a book discussion on Friday, November 2 from 3:30-5:30p.m. to share your thoughts about Harry’s latest adventure!
Big Island Library will be having a video game night on Tuesday, October 19. Come with your game face on and even bring a friend for a fun-filled game night! Find some fun and win a prize at the library scavenger hunt, going on all week! Special interactive book displays will also be available for teens. Moneta Library will be having a Recycled Craft Open House on Thursday, October 25 at 6:00p.m. Come in and make a project or gift from recycled materials! All week long, join other teens in a scavenger hunt to find clues and possibly win a prize. On Saturday, October 27 at 10:30a.m. join other teens in discussing Harry Potters most recent adventure in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Stewartsville Library will be kicking of Teen Read Week with a Live Clue Game about Jamestown! Bring your friends to a game that comes to life on Tuesday, October 16. Also, on Friday and Saturday, October 19-20, join Stewartsville staff and other teens at the Make an Apron Open House! Come in and sew an apron, based on the apron book by Fllyn Anne Geisel. Teens, put your dancing shoes on and get ready to dance at our Dance Dance Revolution program running throughout the fall on the first and third Friday of every month. We have a wide screen and the latest version of DDR! It's that time of year again. But don't let your first day butterflies get you down! The first day of school is a great time to start your year right. You can find old friends or even make new ones! Bringing a notepad on your first day will help you remember all your new schedules and even your locker number. Teachers are usually just as nervous as you are, so don't be afraid to introduce yourself and make a positive impression. Enjoy your first day and make good memories!

Have you ever wanted to draw in a library book? Now's your chance! Come to the library to "alter" a book of your choice. We'll have glitter, markers, crayons and even scissors for you to design your own altered book. If you enjoy creative artwork and have a love for books, this is the activity for you! An altered book is a book that becomes the canvas for your art



This week’s pick is “The Golden Dream of Carlo Chuchio". Carlo has been put out on the street by his uncle and finds himself in the lowest of lows before setting out on a treasure finding expedition in the middle east. Armed with only his underpants, Carlo sets out on his journey after finding an ancient treasure map in a book. With a lazy, stubborn camel and a beautiful Kirkassi girl Carlo travels through the mysterious and sometimes unforgiving land of Keshavar. He risks his life for a treasure that may not even exist, but finds a wealth of experience and insight on the way. Will it be worth it?
