It's that time of year again. But don't let your first day butterflies get you down! The first day of school is a great time to start your year right. You can find old friends or even make new ones! Bringing a notepad on your first day will help you remember all your new schedules and even your locker number. Teachers are usually just as nervous as you are, so don't be afraid to introduce yourself and make a positive impression. Enjoy your first day and make good memories!

Start the new year right...

-Get enough sleep.
-Eat a healthy breakfast.
-Try your best.
-Develop good work habits, like writing down your assignments and turning in your homework on time.
-Take your time with school work. If you don't understand something, ask the teacher.
-Keep a sense of humor. Remember to have fun!

Pottermania!!

Everyone knows about the famed fiction series "Harry Potter". Thousands lined the streets in front of book stores, at midnight, to catch a glimpse of J.K. Rowling's final installment. Many readers wrote local newspapers and posted blogs about what they thought Harry Potter's final fictional fate would be. Some speculated that Harry Potter might kill Lord Voldemort, or sacrifice himself to end the cycle of evil. What was your guess? Don't spill the beans if you know for sure what happens to Harry. But please do tell us what you thought would be his magical journey's end.

Movie Madness

Every Thursday afternoon from 3:30-5:30p.m. we show movies on our big screen just for teens! We show everything from anime, to classics like Alice in Wonderland, to newer titles like Bridge to Terabithia. We are always looking for new movie ideas so feel free to post your opinions on what movies you want to see. This Month we're showing a variety of films including: Daddy Daycare on July 19; Chicken Little on July 26; Casablanca on August 2; Monsters Inc. on August 9; Galaxy Quest on August 16; E.T. on August 23 and finally Happy Feet on August 30. All of these movie titles are rated PG, but we are open to showing PG-13 movies at our discretion. Give us your ideas for movie titles and you just might see your suggestion in our next movie title line up! Also, if you're already coming to see our movies, feel free to leave a comment on what you thought about the film! This will help us to pick titles we know you'll love.

Book Destruction!

Have you ever wanted to draw in a library book? Now's your chance! Come to the library to "alter" a book of your choice. We'll have glitter, markers, crayons and even scissors for you to design your own altered book. If you enjoy creative artwork and have a love for books, this is the activity for you! An altered book is a book that becomes the canvas for your art
instead of a candidate for landfill. You need more imagination than money to alter a book!
Dates, Times, and Locations...

*July 14, 2:00 pm, at the Bedford Central Library.

*July 17, 2:30 pm, at the Montvale Library

*July 19, 6:30 pm, at the Moneta/SML Library
